I am a native Texan, a long-time resident of the Austin area, and a life-long lover of photography. For years, my goal in photography was to keep it as a hobby, protected from the grind and stress that often comes with work and running your own business. As time and jobs went along, photography remained one of my life’s enjoyments. Work as a community journalist, covering city and schools, kept the camera in my hands as part of the job. As life would have it, I garnered recognition for my photography work more than my reporting. This was the final encouragement for me to keep the camera in hand while focusing professionally on photography.
What entices me to click the shutter in a particular moment?
Lines. Colors. Angles. Motion. Action. Interactions.
Personality. Strength of Spirit. Emotion. Whether it comes with smiles or in stillness. Life happening, in that very moment.
As a Texas Bold Beauty Project photographer, I met and worked with an amazing, strong independent woman. Renee Lopez’s beauty is easy to see in the smile that lights up her eyes as it lifts the corners of her mouth. She exudes an unstoppable enthusiasm to fully be who she is capable of being and to do all that she can do. I’m happy to be part of a project that recognizes and highlights the strength, boldness and beauty of some of our amazing Texas women.
